Why do risks scare us?

CEO of TMI Network recounts the story behind the launching of themangementor.com I wanted to launch and e-learning portal for adult professional learning, as an extension of TMI Network I was aware of the risks that would be involved. No other e-learning company had an in-house content capability then. Losses were certain and I was prepared to face the consequences. But, the scale on which we lost money was unprecedented, since the venture funding we received to set up this website was about half of what we needed. But I knew we had to go on, and we launched themanagementor.com in August 2000. We had to struggle a lot but we went on, reworking and re engineering it repeatedly. We took salary cuts and funded it ourselves. Instead of Internet based, we even made it intranet based. It took a few years but themangementor.com has turned the corner and as a result of that risk, we've made a mark in the e-learning space today.
